Abstract

Objective: To establish the association between endometriosis and infertility in patients attending a fertility consultation during the period of January to December 2020. Methods: Retrospective study with a descriptive level and cross-sectional design, with a sample of 46 patients diagnosed with endometriosis, using a clinical history analysis guide as the data collection instrument. Results: The sample consisted of patients with an average age of 34.9 ± 4.3 years, 67.39% of whom had a regular menstrual pattern. Of the patients studied, only 23.91% achieved pregnancy, with only one case occurring spontaneously, while the remaining 90.91% achieved pregnancy through assisted reproduction. Ovarian endometriosis was the most common, representing 71.74% of the cases. 97.83% of the patients diagnosed with endometriosis had infertility, with a 6.65 times greater risk of infertility in endometriosis (p < 0.05). Conclusion: This study shows a significant association between endometriosis and infertility, with an increased risk of infertility in affected women. Although causality could not be established, the results highlight the importance of endometriosis in infertility, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive diagnostic approach.
