Abstract

Objective To measure the levels of prostaglandins(PGE2,TXB2)in biopsy specimens from patients with endometriosis, and explore the relationship between prostaglandin level and the severity of pain. Methods The expression of PGE2,TXB2 protein was detected with immunohistochemistry(SABC)in 30 biopsy specimens from patients with endometriosis. Results A positive correlation was found between the severity of dysmenorrhea and the level of PGE2 and TXB2 in endometriosis. Conclusion The dysfunctional increase of prostaglandins in the uterus may be the important cause for dysmenorrhea in patients with endometriosis.
