Abstract

Objective To explore the association between plasma asymmetric dimethylarginine(ADMA) and inflammation and endothelial injury in women with endometriosis. Methods The plasma levels of high sensitive-C reactive protein(hs-CRP),interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-8(IL-8),ADMA and brachial artery flow-mediated vasodilation(FMD) were measured in 40 patients with endometriosis and 30 women without endometriosis. The results were compared between the two groups. Results Plasma levels of hs-CRP,IL-6,IL-8,ADMA were significantly higher in women with endometriosis than those without endometriosis(P0.05).FMD was significantly lower in women with endometriosis(P0.05).FMD was negatively correlated with plasma levels of ADMA and hs-CRP.Conclusion The increased plasma ADMA levels and enhanced inflammatory factors are associated with impaired endothelial function in women with endometriosis.
