Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression and significance of proteinase activated receptor-2(PAR-2) in endometriosis. Methods:The expression of PAR-2 was detected by immunohistochemistry streptavidin-peroxidase(SP) method in the endometrial tissue of 30 cases of ectopic endometriosis and 10 samples of normal endometrium. Results:The expression of PAR-2 was mainly in the endometrial epithelium and stroma locating in cytoplasm. The expression of PAR-2 was more significant in ectopic endometrium than in normal control. The result of image analysis suggested that mean optical density was 0.221 4±0.010 8 in ectopic endometriosis group versus 0.058 1±0.010 2 in control group, and positive area ratio was 0.135 1±0.032 1 and 0.062 3±0.011 2 respectively in the two groups(both P0.01).Conclusion:These findings suggested that PAR-2 may play a critical role in the pathophysiology and development of endometriosis, and PAR-2 may be a new target for endometriosis therapy in the future.
