Abstract

Objective:To study the expression and functionofvascularendothelialgrowthfactor(VEGF) inendometriosis(EMs) andVEGF in the occurrence of endometriosis development. Methods: The VEGF expression from 36 cases of ectopic endometrium,36 cases of eutopic endometrial and normal endometrium were detected by two-step immunohistochemical method. Results: VEGF expression mainly distributed in endometrial stromal vascular endothelial cells and the cytoplasm of glandular cells. The expression intensity of VEGF was mainly negative,only a small number of positive ex-pression in normal endometrium group and eutopic endometrial group,strong positive ( + + ~ + + + ) in the ectopic endometrium group. The VEGF pos-itive expression rate was 91. 7 percent in the ectopic endometrium group,significantly higher than that of the eutopic endometrial group ( 25. 0% ) ,normal endometrium group ( 15. 0% ) ,comparing difference was significant ( P 0. 05) ; the VEGF positive expression rate was not significant difference be-tween the eutopic endometrial group and the normal endometrium group ( P 0. 05) . Conclusion: The VEGF has high expression in ectopic endometrium, which may result in the angiogenesis,conducive to the cultivation and growth,more susceptible to metastasis. Detection of VEGF expression can be used to determine EMs invasion,metastasis and prognosis’evaluation.
