Abstract

In this study, NaxCo3-xO4-LCP has been investigated as a semiconductor-ionic heterogeneous material with multiple characteristics useful for fuel cell application. Notably, built-in electric field formed by the semiconductor heterostructure, enhances the ionic transport mechanism whereas the interface can introduce the additional superionic conduction channels with a super increase in the ion conductivity through the manufactured cells as compared to the conventional ceramic fuel cells (CFCs). In this work, transition metal elements are used to regulate and improve the performance of LCP, forming the heterostructures. A new material is synthesized to construct the semiconductor ionic fuel cell (SIFC) in order to investigate the stability studies; and therefore, new ways are explored to improve the cell performance and stability.
