The Study about the Ovarian Function after Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy for Endometriomas

Objective To learn the effects of laparoscopic cystectomy of endometriomas on the ovarian of the residual ovary.Methods Two groups of patients were retrospectively selected from an in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET) database in our hospital: 70 patients who underwent laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy for endometriomas were selected in the study group(Group A),including 39 unilateral endometriomas patients(Group A1) and 31 bilateral endometriomas patients(Group A2);92 patients with tubal infertility were taken as control group (Group B).The ovarian in response during IVF-ET cycles were compared.Results The age distribution and the percentage of male infertility were similar between Group A and Group B,the number of gonadotropin ampoules in IVF-ET cycles in Group A was significantly higher than in Group B(P0.001),but the blood E(2) concentration and the numbers of dominant follicle observed on the day of hCG injection and the numbers of oocytes retrieved in Group A were significantly less than in Group B(P0.001).The blood E(2) concentration,the numbers of dominant follicle observed on the day of hCG injection and the numbers of oocytes retrieved in Group A1 were higher than in Group A2,but there were no significantly statistical differences(P0.05).In Group A1,operated ovaries were compared with contralateral intact ovaries of the same patient,the numbers of dominant follicle and oocytes retrieved in operated ovary were significantly less than in intact ovary(P0.05).Conclusions Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy for endometriomas had bad effect on the ovarian function.
