ANALYSIS OF PAIN DUE TO RETROGRADE MENSTRUATION

Pain due to retrograde menstruaton is a disease entity in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM),de-scribed in Hght Lights of Ancient Formulas. The disease is marked by the presence of dysmenorrhea after mar-riage,accompanied with sterility,caused by impairment of Chong and Ren and disturbance of the uterus due to sexu-al intercourse just before or during menstruation which leads to blood stasis in the uterus. The author believes that pain due to retrograde menstruaton is a disease similar to endometriosis in western medicine. This is showed previ-ously in aarient TCM theory,which is dated earlier than Rokitansky who discovered the disease.
