Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of P450 aromatase in estrogen-dependent gynecologic diseases, such as endometrial hyperplasia and adonomyosis. Methods P450arom was detected immunohistochemically in the four experimental groups: endometrial hyperplasia, adonomyosis and eutopic endometrium of women with or without endometriosis. Results ① P450aroma was expressed in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of adonomyosis, endometrial hyperplasia, but negative in endometrium without pathological changes,The expression of P450 aromatase in ectopic endometrium was stronger than that of eutopic endometrium(P0.05).P450 aromatase was expressed in the smooth muscle tissues around ectopic endometrium also.② No difference of P450 aromatase expression was found between proliferative and secretory endometrium of adonomyosis(P0.05).Conclusion ① Aromatase p450 is the key enzyme for biosynthesis of estrogen, which is an essential hormone for the orientation and development of the estrogen-dependent gynecologic diseases. The pathological changes is due to molecular aberrations on the local metabolism;② Although P450 aromatase is not a diagnostic test for pelvic endometriosis, but it may be regarded as a method of screening the estrogen-dependent gynecologic diseases.
