This study investigated burden factors and potential approaches to optimize rehabilitation services among all women with a primary diagnosis of endometriosis admitted to a gynecologic rehabilitation clinic in 2003–2005 (n=300). Patients completed short questionnaires at rehabilitation start and again 2.5 years later, covering demographics, diagnostics, quality of life, illness consequences, and some rehabilitation-related items, with descriptive statistics and univariate linear regression used to identify determinants of quality of life. Women reported notably poor quality-of-life values, and restrictions affecting private and professional daily life were identified as key impact factors, while quality of life—particularly the mental quality-of-life score—improved at follow-up. A major caveat explicitly noted is that this improvement was not accompanied by a positive assessment of the benefit of integrative services. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it assesses quality-of-life determinants and rehabilitation-relevant outcomes in endometriosis patients in a rehabilitation clinic.
