Abstract

Apresenta-se uma revisão integrativa de literatura acerca da endometriose, seus aspectos clínicos, epidemiológicos, bem como o impacto dessa condição na vida das mulheres. Essa condição é uma doença ginecológica crônica, benigna, estrogênio-dependente e de natureza multifatorial que acomete principalmente mulheres em idade reprodutiva. Pode ser definida pela presença de tecido que se assemelha à glândula e/ou ao estroma endometrial fora do útero, com predomínio, mas não exclusivo, na pelve feminina. O diagnóstico é realizado através do exame físico em conjunto com ferramentas diagnósticas auxiliares. Deve ser abordada como uma doença crônica e merece acompanhamento durante a vida reprodutiva da mulher, momento no qual a doença manifesta seus principais sintomas.
