With the deployment of multiple antennae at the transmitter and receiver end, this could be achieved to a large extent. Multi antenna technology generally known as MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) refers to a communication circuit created with multiple transmitter antenna and multiple receiver antenna. In MIMO, Space Time Block Coding (STBC) is a technique used to improve data rate, spectral efficiency, and power utilization. Alamouti Coding is a special STBC transmit diversity scheme used to enhance reliability in Communication. In this paper, a 2x2 MIMO with Alamouti scheme is implemented using USRP (Universal Software Radio Peripheral) 2944R along with NI LabVIEW. The Bit Error Rate (BER) is computed for this scenario for different iterations and performance is studied. Keywords—Alamouti, STBC, Spatial diversity, BER, MIMO, USRP, LabVIEW.
