Expression of matrix metalloproteinases-11 and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases-1 in endometrium of hypomenorrhea

Objective:To study the expression of matrix metalloproteinases-11(MMP-11)and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases-1(TIMP-1)in endometrium of hypomenorrhea patients and its association with the pathogenesis of hypomenorrhea.Methods:Immunohistochemical S-P assay was used to detect the expression of MMP-11 protein and TIMP-1 protein in endometrium of hypomenorrhea patients and in normal endometrium.Results:MMP-11 expression in endometrial glandular cells and stromal cells of hypomenorrhea patients was lower than that of normal subjects(P0.05,P0.05).TIMP-1 expression in endometrial glandular cells was lower than that of normal subjects during the proliferative and secretory phases(P0.05,P0.05).TIMP-1 expression in stromal cells was not significiantly different between hypomenorrhea patients and normal subjects during the proliferative and secretory phases(P0.05,P0.05).Conclusions:MMP-11 might participate in the re-establishment and generation of endometrium.There are multiple factors in regulatoring the expression of MMP-11.TIMP-1 is just one of the factors.
