Abstract

Background: Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological condition in which endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus, resulting in ongoing inflammation and adversely affecting women’s physical, emotional, and social health. The research aims to evaluate the effect of supportive nursing instructions using healthy lifestyle patterns on quality of life among women with endometriosis. Research Design: A quasiexperimental research design was adopted. Setting: the research was carried out in the gynecological outpatient clinics of Tanta University Hospital, El-Menshawy General Hospital, and Al-Mabara Hospital for women diagnosed with endometriosis. Sample: A purposive sample of ninety women was selected and allocated to the intervention and control groups (45 for each). Five tools were employed for gathering data:1) A structured interviewing questionnaire, 2) Endometriosis knowledge questionnaire, 3) Self-reported symptoms questionnaire, 4) Health-promoting lifestyles questionnaire (HPLP-II), and 5) Endometriosis health profile questionnaire for assessing Quality of life (EHP). Results: The mean age of women in the intervention and control groups was 31.05 ± 4.7 and 30.9 ± 5.6 years, respectively. Most women in both groups experienced mild to severe symptoms, had inadequate knowledge about endometriosis, demonstrated unhealthy lifestyle behaviors, and reported a poor quality of life. After the intervention, women showed a significant increase in knowledge (p≤0.001), noticeable symptom improvement (p≤0.01), and better overall quality of life (p≤0.01). Conclusion: The health-promoting lifestyle intervention significantly improved healthy lifestyle behaviors and had a marked positive effect on women’s overall quality of life. Recommendation: Increasing women’s awareness of endometriosis can facilitate earlier diagnosis and treatment, slow the disease’s progression, alleviate persistent symptoms, and enhance quality of life by promoting healthy lifestyle interventions in gynecolog ical units and family health centers.
