Abstract
Objective: To study the expression of different sub-types of telomerase and telomerase reverse transcriptase in the peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis, and their impact on endometriosis development. Methods:Collect peritoneal fluid from 64 patients of endometriosis who were taking laparoscopic surgerys, test the positive expression of telomerase as well as the amplification of telomerase reverse transcriptase(hTERC) by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) separately, then, compare the results with the control group(patients with pelvic inflammatory disease). Results:ELISA test showed that the positive expression rate of telomerase in peritoneal fluid has no significant difference between the endometriosis group and the control group;FISH test found that the positive amplification rate of telomerase reverse transcriptase(hTERC) in peritoneal fluid has no significant difference between the endometriosis group of stage 0-II and the control group, while in stage III-IV the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion:Expression of telomerase reverse transcriptase in peritoneal fluid of endometriosis patients is higher than the control group, maybe it is related to the malignant behavior and the high amplification activity of ectopic endometrium.
