Expressions of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in chronic endometritis

Objective To study relationship between expressions of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-2(TIMP-2)in endometria of women with chronic endometritis(CE) and development of chronic endometritis.Methods 37 women whose diagnosis of chronic endometritis was conformed by endometrial biopsy and pathohistological analysis were included in the study group and 30 normal women were included in the control group.Streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase conjugate method of immunohistochemistry was used to detect expressions MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in endometria of women in the two groups.Results The expressions of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in glandular epithelial cells and stromal cells of endometria of women with CE were lower than those of normal women.The expression of MMP2 in glandular epithelial cells(χ2=15.7546,P=0.0001)and stromal cells(χ2=8.6695,P=0.0032)of endometria of women with CE was lower than that of normal women.So did TIMP-2(χ2=21.8134,P=0.0000;χ2=8.1883,P=0.0042).Conclusion The lowered expressions of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 may be related with chronic endometritis of the women.
