A endometriose (EDM) é uma doença crônica dependente do hormônio estrogênio, caracterizada pelo crescimento de tecido semelhante ao endométrio fora do útero, em locais como a cavidade abdominal. Esse tecido responde ao ciclo menstrual, no qual as apresentações clínicas são variadas, como processos inflamatórios intensos, dores anormais (dismenorreia) e formação de aderências, o que pode resultar em infertilidade. O diagnóstico pode ser realizado por meio de histórico clínico, exames de imagem ultrassonografia, ressonância magnética pélvica e laparoscopia.
