Abstract
Objective To assess the feasibility of laparoscopic cystectomy for ovarian endometriomas. Methods One hundred and eight patients with ovarian endometriomas who had undurgone laparoscopic cystectomy in our department, between October, 1999 and February, 2002, were analyzed retrospectively. Results 68 cases were classified as stage 3 and 40 as stage 4, based on RAFS staging. All patients were successfully treated laparoscopically without intra and post operative complications. The average operative duration was 66 minutes and postoperative hospital stay was 3 days. Conclusion Laparoscopic cystectomy is safe and feasible for ovarian endometriomas . It should be the first choice for moderate and severe cases of ovarian endome triomas.
