Abstract

Objective:To detect the expression of VEGF(Vascular Endothelium Growth Factor) in uterine endometrium of endometriosis patients, and to study the relationship between VEGF and pathogenic mechanism of endometriosis. Methods:Using immunohistochemical method to detect VEGF in endometrium of 48 cases of endometriosis and of 24 cases of normal women.Results:①VEGF was expressed in both endometriosis endometrium and normal endometrium. The expression of VEGF was much stronger in endometriosis endometrium than in normal endometrium. There was significant difference between two groups(P0.01);②As for the endometriosis endometrium, the expression of VEGF was much stronger in proliferative phase than in secretory phase(P0.01),which shows that the expression of VEGF was periodically changed during menstrual cycle. Conclusion:VEGF is an important factor for promotion of vascular growth.VEGF is correlated with the pathogenic mechanism of endometriosis, and may act an important function in the occurrence and development of endometriosis.
