Abstract
EnglishWe report the case of a 39 year-old woman with intermittent abdominal pain associated with severe weight loss in four months, who came to the emergency services with clinical and radiological manifestations suggesting intestinal obstruction. The patient underwent a laparotomy with the right portion of the colon, proximal rectum and distal sigmoid colon being resected. Histology of the surgical specimen showed the existence of fibrosis of rectosigmoid with presence of endometrial glands secondary to rectosigmoid endometriosis. Endometriosis with gastrointestinal involvement should be considered in the differential diagnosis of all women of childbearing age with intermittent abdominal pain or bowel obstruction, even without perimenstrual symptoms.
