Abstract
Objective To evaluate the expression of heat shock protein 70( HSP70) in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of adenomyosis (AM) and to explore the roles of HSP70 in the pathogenesis of AM. Methods 32 samples of eutopic and ectopic endometrium of AM, 30 samples of myoma of uterus and 20 samples of normal endomemetrium were examined for HSP70 expression using the immunohistochemical S-P method and computerized imaging analysis system. Results The expression of HSP70 in ectopic endometrium of AM was notably higher than that in myoma of uterus and normal endomemetrium (both P0.01). The expression was also higher than that in eutopic endometrium(P0.05). The expression of HSP70 in ectopic and eutopic endometrium of AM did not relate to the phase of menstrual cycle, namely there was no obvious correlation between the phase and HSP70 expression levels(P0.05).Conclusion HSP70 is overexpressed in AM, which may be correlated with the pathogenesis of this disease.
