COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR SUPPRESSING ENDOMETRIAL PROLIFERATION

Disclosed is use of a compound of formula (I): wherein the substituents are defined in the specification, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, hydrate or solvate thereof, for the manufacture of a medicament for treating endometriosis and/or pain associated therewith in a female in need thereof wherein the medicament is formulated for use in a dosage regimen comprising the steps of (a) the medicament is administered for an administration period during which the medicament is administered at one or more intervals of N weeks or less thereafter (b) temporarily discontinuing the administration of step (a) for a discontinuation period of more than N weeks and thereafter (c) repeating steps (a) and (b) at least once, wherein N is 1, 2, 3, or 4, and wherein said female undergoes menstruation during at least one discontinuation period and with the proviso that none of the following agents is administered during step (a) or step (b): a GnRH agonist, a GnRH antagonist and an estrogen.
