Review of: "Alleviating Bothersome Symptoms of Umbilical Endometriosis by En Bloc Resection in a Young, Fertile Patient"

peer-review OA: gold CC0

Abstract

The manuscript presents a clear and well-structured clinical case of umbilical endometriosis, a rare form of extragenital endometriosis. The adherence to the SCARE guidelines and the detailed description of the surgical approach, including the intraoperative frozen section and aesthetic umbilical reconstruction, are commendable. However, it is recommended to expand the background with a brief mention of possible pathophysiological mechanisms, as well as to include information on preoperative imaging studies and the duration of postoperative follow-up to support the claim of no recurrence.Additionally, the medical language could be re ned, and the surgical technique used for neoumbilicoplasty should be described in more detail. With these minor improvements, the case offers clinical and educational value for publication.
