Pathway analysis of the hospitalization expense influencing factors of the 2020 breast cancer in Nantong city

Objective:To study the hospitalization expense and its main influencing factors of the inpatients with breast cancer,and to provide the suggestions for controlling the unduly rapid increase of medical expense appropriately.Methods:The effective medical record of the 2 020 breast cancer inpatients in two hospitals in Nantong from 2004 to 2009 were collected,and statistic methods such as descriptive analysis,single statistical method,and pathway analysis were applied.Results:The major influencing factors included hospital stay,medical treatment year,whether or not surgery,medical results,the patients' ages and the expense payment forms.Hospital stay,medical results and the expense payment forms directly influenced hospitalization expense and hospital stay was the critical influencing factor.Medical treatment year,whether or not surgery and the patients' ages influenced the hospital stay as well as the hospitalization expense directly.Conclusion:In order to control the hospitalization expense of the breast cancer inpatients,the following ways can be practiced,such as reducing the hospital stay rationally,completing the innovation of the hospitalization insurance system,establishing the community health service system,and enhancing the education of medical ethics.
