A High throughput Optimized SVD Processor for 8x8 MIMO Precoding with Adaptable Precision Controller

Abstract

Abstract The Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) Processor for 8X8 MIMO precoding systems is designed. The 2-sided Cyclic Jacobialgorithm is used in our work. Here, the whole matrix is split into 2x2 matrix and are processed separately, which at each iterationexchange values between them .Through the use of an adaptive precision controller, the processing matrix size has been efficientlyreduced, and the diagonalization process has been accelerated to boost throughput. 32 bit Fixed the data path format is utilised toaccommodate the increased accuracy of Eigen vector elements and Eigen values from the 8x8 MIMO channel matrix. The thresholds for precision can be modified and thus the accuracy of the SVD processor is changeable according to the user requirements.The SVDprocessor provides throughput of 675k matrix/s in 40nm CMOS technology.
