Abstract

Purpose To study the immune pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods Antiendometrial antibodies,IL?4 and IFN?γ in sera and peritoneal fluids were measured by ELISA in 18 healthy fertile women and 34 patients with endometriosis. Results The positive rate of antiendometrial antibodies in sera from patients with endometriosis was significantly higher than that of the fertile women without endometriosis ( P 0.005).IL?4 levels of peritoneal fluids from endometriosis of different stages elevated significantly as compared to the normal controls ( P0.05,P0.05 ).IL?4 levels of peritoneal fluids from endometriosis of stage II to IV groups apparently were higher as compared to endometriosis of stage I group ( P 0.05).There were significant differences of IL?4 levels in sera between endometriosis of stage II to IV groups and the normal controls ( P 0.05) .IFN?γ levels of peritoneal fluids from endometriosis of different stages increased significantly as compared to the normal controls ( P0.05,P0.01 ). Conclusions In endometriosis the changes of IL?4 and IFN?γ in peritoneal fluids were predominant as compared with those in sera.IL?4 and IFN?γ concentrations in peritoneal fluids elevated as endometriosis stage rised, and the elevation of IL?4 concentration was more ob vious .In endometriosis the changes of antiendometrial antibodies in sera were more obvious than those in peritoneal fluids.
