Abstract

Many colleges and universities face decreasing enrollment and are therefore limited in funding to support the increasing number of students entering college underprepared. Without adequate supports, retention rates for these students decrease. This study examines a free resource that can help to support first-year students’ success and persistence in college. The Growth Mindset for College Students intervention, provided by Project for Education Research that Scales, was implemented at a small liberal arts school. Results showed that completing the intervention was related to increases in GPA and reductions in the number of students on academic probation. Implications are discussed.
