Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of serum CA125 assays in the diagnosis of adenomyosis and.uterine leiomyoma.Method 101 cases of adenomyosis,374 cases of uterine leiomyoma and 32 cases of uterine leiomyoma complicated with adenomyosis were studied. The serum CA125 level was determined by immunoradiometric assay(IRMA).Results The CA125 positive rate(CA12535 kU/L) of the above three groups was 88.12%,12.30% and 87.50% respectively. The mean CA125 level of the above three groups were 118.37±78.21 kU/L,17.45±14.36 kU/L and 106.49±63.91 kU/L respectively. The mean CA125 level and the positive rate in patients with uterine leiomyoma were significantly lower than those in other two groups( P 0.05).The differences in the mean CA125 level and the positive rate between the patients with adenomyosis and uterine leiomyoma complicated with adenomyosis were not significant( P 0.05).Conclusions Serum CA125 assay is of great assistance to the diagnosis of uterine adenomyosis, and of a certain value to the differential diagnosis between adenomyosis and uterine leiomyoma.
