The Effect of Mifepristone in Endometriosis and on Expression of PCNA in Endometrium

[Objective]To investigate the effect of mifepristone(Ru486) in endometriosis and on expression of PCNA in endometrium.[Methods]The symptoms, physical signs and the expression of PCNA in endometrium were analysed before and after Ru486 treatment in 60 cases.[Results]The subjective symptoms scores were decreased by 92.4% ( P 0.05) and PCNA expression in endometrium were lower ( P 0.001) after six months treatment than before treatment. All patients regained normal menstruation in 4~6 weeks after whole therapeutic course finished. The side effect of Ru486 therapy was hectic fever.[Conclusion]Ru486 is an effective drug for endometriosis, one of the mechanisms is to suppress the proliferation of endometrium.
