Abstract

Adsorptive properties of adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine in the acetate buffer at pH = 4 were determined using experimental data obtained from measurements of the differential volume of the double layer interface, the zero charge potential and the surface tension at this potential. The possibility of determining parameters E max and q max and the bell-shaped relative excess amounts indicate the physical nature of adsorptions of the nitrogen bases in question on the mercury electrode, which must be associated with the fact that the adsorbed particles exhibit vertical or diagonal orientation.
