Abstract

Objective To study the value of nuclide ~ 99m Tc-labeled red blood cell scintigraphy in auxiliary diagnosis of endometriosis. Methods Twenty-eight patients with the history of advancing dysmennorrhea or algopareunia and the diagnosis of endometriosis indicated by gynecologic examination and ultrasonography were included in the study group,in whom CA_ 125 was determined. Ten healthy people were chosen as the controls. The patients in both groups received ~ 99m Tc-labeled red blood cell display on the first or the second day of the menstruation and endometriosis as confirmed pathologically. Results The size of ectopic focus found with nuclide ~ 99m Tc-labeled red blood cell scintigraphy was much smaller than that with B ultrasonography, which was more and earlier with CA_ 125 grater than 200U/ml than that with CA_ 125 less than 200U/ml. Conclusion Nuclide ~ 99m Tc-labeled red blood cell scintigraphy is helpful in auxiliary diagnosis of endometriosis at early stage.
