Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-l(sICAM-1)in the peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis. Methods:The level of sICAM-1 in the peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis(n=21)and normal control subjects(n=10)were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results:The level of sICAM-1 in patients with endometriosis was significantly higher than that in normal control subjects(P0.05).There was no significant difference in the level of sICAM-1 between patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ endometriosis and those with stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ endometriosis.Conclusion:sICAM-1 may play a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. The detection of the level of sICAM-1 in the peritoneal fluid is valuable in the diagnosis and treatment of the patients with endometriosis.
