Laparoscopy in gynecology: A clinical report of 706 cases

Laparoscopy was performed for diagnostic and therapeutic purpose in 706 cases, during the period between Jan 1983 and Dec. 1990. The success rate was 97.6% (689 patients). The complication rate was only 3.3% of cases, most of which were mild except one case accompanied by bowel injury. The findings in this study suggest that laparoscopy is a safe and effective method for diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic diseases，preferentially in subjects with infertility，endometriosis and pelvic inflammatory disease.
