The analysis reveals the main problems, which include outdated infrastructure, a lack of strategy, and inadequate stakeholder involvement. These challenges hinder the sector’s growth and limit its ability to adapt, transform, and develop sustainably. However, potential However, e-government applications and big data hold potential, while the nation's policies, such as the Perspective Plan 2021-2041, embed digital initiatives. Therefore, by removing these barriers, the digitalization of the maritime industry in Bangladesh has the potential to revolutionize the sector by enhancing business transparency, fostering improved stakeholder relations, and bolstering the sector's resilience. Lastly, this study proposes a set of strategic directions for the development of a digitally enabled, competitive, and future-proof maritime sector that will support Bangladesh’s country-wide economic and environmental agenda.
