Abstract

Objective To investigate the ovarian function change after anhydrous ethanol sclerotherapy for ovarian endometriotic cysts guided by ultrasound. Methods One hundred cases of ovarian chocolate cyst were retrospectively analyzed after Anhydrous ethanol sclerotherapy. These patients were divided into four groups according to cyst number and age, including group A (n =30, unilateral ovarian endometriotic cyst age 35year), group B (n =20, unilateral ovarian endometriotic cyst, age≥35year) , group C(n=25, bilateral ovarian endometriotic cyst, age35year) and group D(n=25,bilateral ovarian endometriotic cyst age ≥35year). The level of FSH and E 2 in the serum at 3rd and 6th month and ovarian volume, antral follicle number, peak systolic velocity (PSV)in ovarian stroma and resistance index (RI) were evaluated in patients in each group post-treatment. Results The serum FSH level at 3rd and 6th month post-operation were significantly decreased while E 2 was apparently increased in group C and group D. There was significant difference in ovarian volume(P0.05), antral follicle number, PSV,RI at 3rd and 6th month post -operation. Ovarian stromal arterial flow was maily on grade 0, Ⅰ and changed to grade Ⅱ、Ⅲ post-treatment. Conclusion This study indicates that the ovarian function will be improved after ethanol sclerotherapy.
