Abstract

Abstract There are a great variety of existing codes and algorithms for computing real Givens rotations and it can be difficult to discern what approach is best in terms of speed and accuracy. We consider specific versions of the two most widely used algorithms for computing real Givens rotations and experimentally evaluate their performance both in terms of speed and accuracy. The specific algorithms that we investigate are the result of extensive testing and are very compact and elegant.
