Abstract
Run-flat tires are an important solution to solve the traffic accidents of tire blowout and the inserts supporting run-flat tire (ISRFT) can effectively solve the problem of zero-pressure driving after the tire blowout. Since the characteristics of vehicles equipped with this run-flat tire after tire blowout is different from that of normal tires, a reasonable tire model is required to develop the dynamic response characteristics. In this paper, the theoretical analysis of the zero-pressure rolling for the inserts supporting run-flat tire was firstly carried out, and steady-state mechanical characteristics tests were conducted to obtain the mechanical characteristics. Secondly, a dynamics model based on the UniTire model was developed for inserts supporting run-flat with the consideration of camber angle. Finally, three sets of typical working conditions were selected to compare the effect of different camber angles on the tire blowout parameters of vehicles equipped with inserts supporting run-flat tire and normal tire (NT), which proved the superiority characteristics of inserts supporting run-flat tire. This study provides a basis for improving the autonomous characteristics of vehicles.
