Abstract

Objective To investigate the role of aromatase cytochrome P450 in endometriosis.Methods The expression of aromatase cytochrome P450 was detected by immunohistochemical analysis in ectopic and eutopic endometrium of 36 endometriosis(EMs) women and compared with 22 control endometrium.Results The aromatase cytochrome P450 was strongly expressed in ectopic and eutopic endometrium of endometriosis except normal endometrium(P0.05). There were no difference between proliferative and secretory endometrium of endometriosis(P0.05).No correlation was observed between the expression of aromatase cytochrome P450 and rAFS stage(P0.05).Conclusion Expression of aromatase cytochrome P450 in ectopic and eutopic endometrium of endometriosis may play a key role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Aromatase cytochrome P450 has no correlation with the severity of endometriosis.
