Investigating a Mechanistic Link between Mindful Music-Listening and Regulation of Neuroinflammation

Abstract
Receptive music-based interventions (MBI) are a promising set of non-invasive lifestyle therapies that may confer sustainable health benefits via stress reduction and strengthening of the immune system. In this review, we propose a possible mechanism for MBI to downregulate AD-associated neuroinflammation and suggest that detection of inflammation and stress-associated biomarkers could advance the field of MBI for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related disorders.
