Abstract

Objective To investigate the imaging features of adenomyosis and hysteromyoma by contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS). Methods Twenty-two patients with suspicions myomtrium diseases were examined by CEUS. The characterizes of filling was evaluated by visual interpretation, and the start time, time to peak and peak intensity were analyzed by TIC. Results There were 8 patients with adenomyosis appeared as short line filling from peripheral into internal, and there was no significance of time to peak and wash-out time between adenomyosis and peripheral normal myometrium. In 14 patients with hysteromyoma, there were 18 lesions appeared as early pseudocapsule filling, ring or semi-ring enhancement. Then the internal masses were enhanced, which peak intensity was higher than peripheral normal myometrium. In the resolution phase, the internal masses were early degraded. Conclusion The filling pattern of hysteromyoma on CEUS was significantly different from adenomyosis. The start time, peak to time and peak intensity have important value in differential diagnosis of adenomyosis and hyseromyoma.
