Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of medical imaging in ureteral endometriosis. Methods The search included 9 patients with ureteral endometriosis proved by pathology. The imagings were reviewed retrospectively.Clinical, surgical, and histopathologic findings were also reviewed. Results Medical imaging detected obstruction and hydronephrosis in all patients, included left side in 4 cases, right side in 4 cases, bilateral sides in 1 case.X ray showed filling defect in the ureter. All the lesions appeared as ill-defined or well-defined soft tissue mass on CT images, with various enhancement on contrast CT images. Two cases showed hypointense on T2WI and hyperintense on T1WI images. Conclusion CT and MRI images are useful in displaying the anatomical location, extent and depth of ureteral endometriosis lesions.
