Abstract
Objective To investigate the value that lipiodol ultra fluid selective embolization of uterine artery for adenomyosis. Methods Based on Seldinger's way, 17 patients with adenomyosis were treated with embolization of uterine artery through arterial hypogastrica and lipiodol ultra fluid and gelatin sponge were injected for blocking the blood-supply for uterus. Results Before treatment,Uterine arteries on both sides are thicker on angiography, blood turbulence and sizing grip, uterus were roundly enlarged. After embolization, the blood is intermitted to uterus. After the operation for 6 months, the uterines' volume were reduced 24.1% in average.76.4% patients have no more dysmenorrhea and 23.5% ease suffering. All their catamenias recovered to normal at the second menstrual cycle. Conclusion For the treatment of adenomyosis, selective uterine arterial lipiodol embolization is a new method with minimal invasion and good effect.
