preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
This paper explores the historical development, current impact, and prospective future of 5G technology within ICT networks. Beginning with the evolutionary journey from 1G to 4G, we detail how 5G's architecture revolutionizes speed, connectivity, and network management. The paper also highlights challenges such as security concerns and deployment costs, and projects how 5G will pave the way toward 6G. We conclude by discussing the ongoing transformation of industries and societies enabled by these advancements.
