Investigation on the Electrochemical Activities of Pristine and Cerium doped Manganese Dixide Nanoparticles for Supercapacitor Electrode Materials

Abstract

The synthesis of pristine Manganese dioxide and Cerium doped Manganese dioxide nanoparticles was reported in this article. X-Ray Diffraction Spectroscopy was examined to find the crystal structure and other structural parameters. The crystallite size of the obtained nanoparticles was found to be in the range of 18-22nm. The functional groups were identified by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. Surface morphology and elemental analysis was done by Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy. SEM pictures clearly illustrate that the synthesized samples hold porosity nature. Further, Cyclic Voltammetry, Galvanostatic Charge Discharge studies and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy were carried out to test the electrochemical activities of the resulting nanoparticles. This study suggests that the synthesized materials can be used as electrode material in supercapacitor applications.
