Across three sequential phases—literature review and planning, preservice teacher herbarium experimentation with local flora, and hands-on classroom implementation (n = 41 students)—hybrid literacies developed through direct interactions with ultraviolet-sensitive iron solutions, sunlight exposure, and plant impressions on sensitized paper. Post-workshop assessments showed 85.4% conceptual mastery of photochemical reactions and chemical transformations, alongside 82.9% increased classroom engagement, 80.5% improved chemical comprehension, and more than 85% gains in creativity plus science-art connections. Local plant silhouettes linked island biodiversity and conservation challenges to Anna Atkins' pioneering botanical cyanotypes, while phased achievement analysis showed peak material practice proficiency (95%) alongside sustained ecological awareness (> 85%) throughout.
