Land Tenure Security and Climate Change Adaptation Strategies in Togo
preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to analyze the effect of land tenure security on the adaptation strategies of agricultural households to climate change in Togo. By applying the multinomial logit model to data from the Harmonized Household Living Conditions Survey conducted by INSEED in 2018–2019, the results show that land tenure security positively and significantly affects the adaptation strategies of agricultural households in Togo. This result remains valid even if we apply ordinary least squares to the coping strategy index constructed from the principal component analysis. The study suggests policies to formally secure agricultural plots in Togo.
