Aphantasia as a window into unconscious internal processing
preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
Unconscious processing has been primarily studied in perception of external stimuli, while internally generated representations remain overlooked. Drawing on recent findings from aphantasia, this commentary explores the existence of unconscious mental imagery and proposes a conceptual and methodological framework to guide empirical investigation of its neural mechanisms and stages of imagery consciousness.
