Abstract

Summary: Reference has been made to the theories of origin of endometriosis. Details have been given of a young patient suffering from severe dysmenorrhoea due to haematometra in the rudimentary left horn of a bicornuate uterus with associated endometriosis of the corresponding tube and ovary. Complete relief of symptoms followed the surgical removal of these structures. Reference has been made to the relationship that this case bears to the aetiology of endometriosis, providing further evidence for Sampson's theory.
