Abstract

Objective To evaluate the sonographic characteristics and differential diagnosis of hysteromyoma and adenomyosis. Methods 65 cases with hysteromyoma and 41 cases with adenomyosis were given B-ultrosonic examination. The ultrasonograms were made for a comparative analysis. Results 61cases with hysteromyoma (93.8%) showed pseudocapsules or discernible boundaries,38 cases with adenomyosis (92.7%) showed indiscernible boundaries,54 cases with hysteromyoma(83.1%) showed paling pictures,54 cases (83.1%) showed posterior echo attenuation,36 cases (55.4%) showed hypoechoes, and 6 cases(9.2%)showed hyperechoes. But only 11cases with adenomyosis(26.8%)showed paling pictures,3 cases (7.3%) showed posterior echo attenuation,4 cases (9.8%) showed hypoechoes, and 24 cases (58.5%) showed hyperechoes. The results showed significant difference between them(P0.01).Conclusion Diagnosis and differential diagnosis of hysteromyoma and adenomyosis are possible and practical by B-ultrasonography.
