Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of modified superior hypogastric plexus block for patients with chronic pelvic pain. Methods: Blocks with alcohol were performed in 26 women with endometriosis and severe pelvic pain, through subarachnoid cavity and L_5~S_1 intervertebral disc with CT guidance. The changes of VAS and the level of plasma β-endophin before treatment,3 days,1 month,3 months after treatment were measured, respectively. Results: Plexus block provided significant pain relief(P0.01) and an increase of β-endorphin level. No severe complications occurred. Conclusion: Modified superior hypogastric plexus block is a safe and effective approach for reliving chronic pelvic pain from endometriosis.
